TGIMUN 2024

The Fourth session of The Gambia International Model United Nations (TGIMUN) will occur in Banjul, The Gambia on November 7-9, 2024 under the theme; “Empowering Youth for Peacebuilding and Global Progress: Innovation, Diplomacy & Leadership.” The conference will offer both an in-person (residential) and virtual attendance options and will bring together two hundred young people to simulate five prominent United Nations bodies.  The conference discussions will be centered on how innovation, diplomacy & leadership can empower the youth for peacebuilding and contributing to global progress.

The conference aims to prepare young people for global assignments by equipping them with leadership and diplomatic skills in research, writing, public speaking, lobbying and negotiations. It will also advance the awareness on the integral role the United Nations plays in world affairs and to encourage the next generation of leaders to get involved in global issues. Several measures have been taken to ensure that the simulation accurately reflects the way the UN works. The conference shall therefore be moderated by very experienced young people. An intensive training session will be conducted for all participants prior to the conference.

The 2022 conference drew some high-profile diplomats including the United Nations Resident Coordinator, UNDP & UNFPA Resident Representatives, The Minister of Youth & Sports and the Head of Political Science Department of the University of The Gambia as guest speakers.

Coaches United Nations Simulation (CUNS) will work closely with UN Gambia, Educational Institutions, Ministry of Youth & Sports, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and other youth groups to ensure a successful conference.  Just as the previous years, this conference will engage high school and tertiary students from different regions of the country to ensure that young people from all socio-economic backgrounds are given the opportunity to participate.
